I was the Lead Sound Designer for a VR short film that allows the viewer to experience an encounter in first person from the perspective of a son, a mother and a police officer.

I was present on set during filming to record different types of location Audio to help make The Drive an immersive and cohesive audio experience. I was also responsible for all audio post production which consisted of voice recording/editing, audio processing, designing Foley and sound effects.

I used Facebook 360 Spatial Audio tools to 3D audio spatialization.

Tools used:

  • Zoom H3-VR 360 to capture ambisonic recordings of location ambience, and live audio during the records.

  • Wireless Lavalier microphones to capture live voice from the talent as they performed.

  • Audio-Technica U851RbO Omnidirectional Condenser Boundary Microphone

  • A Tascam 8 channel mixer with USB as an location interface.

  • The local University of Illinois professional voice recording booth for recording all vocal lines

Software used:

  • Reaper for editing, designing and mixing
